FAQs

I hear you make custom jewelry. Isn’t that going to be more expensive than something out of the case?
Not necessarily. As consumers, we are led to believe that custom work often carries a premium price tag. However, when it comes to jewelry, this is not always the case. Jewelry pricing is determined by several factors, including materials used and labor costs. While the amount of labor can vary from piece to piece, the cost of materials general remains at a constant (albeit metal pricing can vary based on market fluctuations). Keep in mind that pre-made items in the sales case already have been priced with the cost of labor in mind. So, when you are thinking about getting a custom piece made, focus more on how you want your new bauble to be made. Higher quality materials and gems will undoubtedly cost you more (and will hold up better in the long run!).
My white gold ring is turning slightly yellow. Is this normal?
Yes, this is quite common, actually. White gold is not a naturally occurring color of gold; rather it is the result of yellow gold being mixed with different alloy metals (nickel, palladium, or manganese) to give it a white finish. This also results in the metal becoming more durable for daily wear (over pure gold which is very soft). The yellow you are seeing is the natural color of the metal showing through. White gold rings are also generally plated with a metal called rhodium that helps to ensure a bright white finish for white gold jewelry. This plating can wear away over time, which is the reason you are seeing the true color of your metal peeking though.
